Voice of Art: The Speaking Eye

Presented by  Nirmal Bhartia School

Since 2024, LAND has served as the curatorial partner for Voice of Art: The Speaking Eye, presented by Nirmal Bhartia School's inter-school children's biennale, developing research-led frameworks that position artistic practice as a methodology for inquiry, collaboration, and public learning. Across two editions—Add a Tail (2024) and Ulajhte Sulajhte | उलझते सुलझते: Together, We Change (2026)—the biennale has brought together nearly 30 schools from across India, culminating in over 50 art-based projects alongside workshops, performances, dialogues, and public exhibitions.

Rather than approaching the biennale as a platform for displaying artworks alone, LAND reimagined it as a sustained learning ecology where learners engage with contemporary questions through artistic research, community engagement, vernacular knowledge, ecological thinking, and critical observation. Mentorship by artists, educators, and cultural practitioners enabled participants to move from curiosity to research, experimentation, making, and exhibition, transforming learning into a collective process of knowledge creation.

Extending this pedagogical vision beyond learners, LAND also facilitated a professional learning programme for more than 100 educators, exploring how contemporary art, inquiry-based learning, and new ways of seeing can reshape classroom practice. Together, these interventions have positioned Voice of Art not simply as a biennale, but as an evolving model for arts education—where exhibitions become sites of dialogue, schools become spaces of cultural research, and young people emerge as active contributors to the public imagination.
